The United Nations Industrial Organization (UNIDO), together with the International Center for Promotion of Enterprises (ICPE), is currently hosting a professional development programme on “Sustainable Energy Solutions” in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The programme aims to address some of the key issues pertaining to sustainable energy by raising awareness amongst a group of 23 participants from all over the world. It seeks to convey an in-depth understanding of energy policy, technology and financing as planning tools for developing sustainable energy systems. The programme is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with current and expected trends in sustainable energy solutions and to provide participants with an opportunity to reflect on practical, innovative and cost effective ways to address sustainability problems within the energy industry and systems. Faculty for the programme includes – inter alia - high-level speakers from UNIDO, the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP), Fraunhofer Institute, the Slovenian Ministry of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning as well as from the private sector.
The course was inaugurated today by Mr. Janez Podobnik, Acting Director General, ICPE (please find the speech here) and Mr. Jacek Cukrowski, Chief of the UNIDO Institute for Capacity Development.
